Mary A. Mills, 1926-2003, Windsor

Mary Ardelia Mills, 76, of Windsor, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, surrounded by her family, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. She died of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

She was born Dec. 21, 1926, a daughter of Elmer Woodson and Marie Garland Fristoe. On July 12, 1951, she was married to Harold Mills, who survives of the home.

Mrs. Mills grew up on a farm near Lincoln and was a 1944 graduate of Lincoln High School. She moved to Windsor and worked at the Windsor International Shoe Factory for 29 years. She met the love of her life, Harold Mills, in September 1945, while he was home on furlough during World War II. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Windsor. She was an avid bowler for more than 40 years, meeting her friends every week. She also enjoyed playing pitch, listening to bluegrass and gospel music and attending jam sessions with her family and friends. She was known for her cooking and her pecan pies were always in demand at family dinners. She enjoyed the company of her family and friends.

Also surviving are three brothers, Donny Fristoe, of Warsaw; John Fristoe and Jack Fristoe, both of Clinton.

She was predeceased by a brother, Bob; and a sister, Velma.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hadley Funeral Home in Windsor, with the Rev. Doug Hall officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Oak Cemetery in Windsor. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the cemetery or to First Baptist Church Anniversary Endowment Fund, in care of the funeral home.
